Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution
  • 5+ years of welding experience in a manufacturing environment, with a strong focus on quality
  • Comfortable lifting up to 45 lbs. regularly and working in environments with noise and dust
  • Consistent use of required safety gear (glasses, safety shoes, earplugs)
  • Physically able to perform the demands of welding work
  • Willing to work overtime, nights, and weekends as needed
  • Solid grasp of basic math
  • Experienced operating a forklift, hand truck, and related equipment
  • A strong communicator with self-motivation and the ability to work with minimal supervision

Nice To Haves

  • Current welding certifications (e.g., AWS) covering structural or pipe welding
  • Experience welding to ASME or API code requirements
  • Background in reciprocating engine or compressor manufacturing
  • Demonstrated leadership or mentoring experience on a shop floor

Responsibilities

  • Set up, troubleshoot, and operate welding machines to meet exacting job specifications
  • Preheat and weld metal components per blueprints, welding symbols, and job specs
  • Perform precision welds on structural and process pipe applications using hand welding equipment
  • Use templates, jigs, and blueprints to repair, modify, or fabricate components
  • Meet rigorous quality standards, including radiographic, ultrasound, and magnetic particle testing
  • Operate hand tools for cutting, drilling, tapping, grinding, and shaping metal
  • Run industry equipment such as air arc gougers, grinders, and stress-relieving machines
  • Diagnose and correct substandard welds
  • Manage metals to hold dimensional, tolerance, and strength requirements while preventing distortion or burn-through
  • Work safely, protecting yourself, your team, and Cooper's tools and equipment
