Requirements

High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution
5+ years of welding experience in a manufacturing environment, with a strong focus on quality
Comfortable lifting up to 45 lbs. regularly and working in environments with noise and dust
Consistent use of required safety gear (glasses, safety shoes, earplugs)
Physically able to perform the demands of welding work
Willing to work overtime, nights, and weekends as needed
Solid grasp of basic math
Experienced operating a forklift, hand truck, and related equipment
A strong communicator with self-motivation and the ability to work with minimal supervision

Nice To Haves

Current welding certifications (e.g., AWS) covering structural or pipe welding
Experience welding to ASME or API code requirements
Background in reciprocating engine or compressor manufacturing
Demonstrated leadership or mentoring experience on a shop floor

Responsibilities

Set up, troubleshoot, and operate welding machines to meet exacting job specifications
Preheat and weld metal components per blueprints, welding symbols, and job specs
Perform precision welds on structural and process pipe applications using hand welding equipment
Use templates, jigs, and blueprints to repair, modify, or fabricate components
Meet rigorous quality standards, including radiographic, ultrasound, and magnetic particle testing
Operate hand tools for cutting, drilling, tapping, grinding, and shaping metal
Run industry equipment such as air arc gougers, grinders, and stress-relieving machines
Diagnose and correct substandard welds
Manage metals to hold dimensional, tolerance, and strength requirements while preventing distortion or burn-through
Work safely, protecting yourself, your team, and Cooper's tools and equipment
