About The Position

The Welder II joins, fabricates, and repairs metals and other materials using appropriate welding techniques. The role performs Gas Metal Arc Welding (MIG) and Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (TIG) across a diversified product line, including close-tolerance, large, and small weldments, in accordance with applicable AWS welding codes and symbols. Work is performed primarily in a manufacturing environment.

Requirements

Strong understanding of TIG and MIG welding procedures and processes.
Experience working with steel, aluminum, and stainless steel.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and AWS welding symbols.
Ability to perform welds that pass visual inspection and destructive testing.
Ability to use measuring tools, including tape measures, squares, rulers, and dial calipers.
Basic math skills, including conversions and basic calculations.
Knowledge of welding machines and setup.
Ability to operate hand tools, air tools, and electric grinders.
High school diploma or equivalent experience.
Two-year vocational welding program or equivalent experience.
At least 2 years of welding experience.

Responsibilities

Performs welding activities with minimal instructions and supervision.
Interprets blueprints, manufacturing drawings, written work instructions, and AWS welding symbols.
Sets up welding equipment in accordance with the appropriate weld process specifications (WPS).
Completes weldments according to applicable AWS welding codes and blueprint requirements.
Positions weldment details using fixtures, jigs, tape measures, squares, rules, and calipers to meet blueprint, manufacturing drawing, and quality requirements.
Uses material-handling equipment in conjunction with welding tasks.
Performs minor maintenance on job-related equipment.
Assumes responsibility for the care of assigned tools and equipment.
Observes and follows safety procedures and policies.
Performs other duties as required.
Maintains attendance as an essential job function.
