Welder II

Plug Power•Lafayette, IN

About The Position

The Welder II constructs products primarily through welding and fabrication. For each welding task, the welder identifies the materials and appropriate method, prepares and fits materials, welds within the parameters of the applicable WPS and engineering weld callout, cleans the finished materials, and inspects welds for quality and conformance to requirements. The role involves operating equipment to assemble mechanical structures or parts precisely; interpreting blueprints, drawings, measurements, and technical documents; selecting and setting up welding equipment and methods; preparing and aligning parts; and welding in vertical, horizontal, and overhead positions. The welder must be able to determine whether a weld meets ASME specifications and follow relevant safety standards, including use of protective clothing.
