About The Position

As a premier fuel and hydraulic tank producer, The IFH Group, Inc. is a growing company and destination employer for professionals and skilled experts. Welder I reports directly to the Night Shift Supervisor while performing basic welding skills and fabrication techniques with standards of excellence. This full-time Welder I position is 100% on-site in Rock Falls, Illinois, and eligible for insurance benefits on the 1st day of the month following date of hire. Work schedule is Sunday through Wednesday from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
  • One (1) year previous experience with machine/metal fabrication, MIG welding, and/or TIG welding in manufacturing or academic setting required.
  • Strong work ethic with integrity while prioritizing standards of excellence including safety, quality, efficiency, productivity, and accuracy.
  • Knowledge and ability to use and apply basic welding skills and fabrication techniques specific to tank construction, bead size, and other specifications.
  • Knowledge, skill, and ability to operate and use hand and power tools, and welding and brazing equipment, torches, and shields.
  • Knowledge and ability to learn and use overhead hoist with crane and rigging techniques to safely and properly lift and maneuver tanks.
  • Ability, knowledge, and skill to prioritize safety while using and operating powered industrial trucks including motorized pallet jacks.
  • Ability and knowledge to use sound judgement and logical reasoning.
  • Ability, knowledge, and skill to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information including, but not limited to customer specifications.
  • Ability, knowledge, and skill to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, diagrams, weld symbols, schematics, and material specifications.
  • Knowledge, ability, and skill to take and use accurate measurements.
  • Ability, knowledge, and skill to demonstrate professionalism and use respectful communication with employees at all levels within the organization as well as external stakeholders.
  • Ability, knowledge, and skill to manage multiple priorities with competing deadlines.
  • Ability and knowledge to apply basic skill and proficiency using ERP/MRP system.

  • Ability and skill to fluently speak, read, write, and understand English.

Responsibilities

  • Performs basic welding skills and fabrication techniques specific to tank construction, bead size, and other specifications with standards of excellence for safety, quality, efficiency, productivity, and accuracy.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints, engineering drawings, diagrams, and schematics, to perform MIG and TIG weldments and/or fixtures.
  • Takes and uses accurate measurements to perform weldments according to specifications.
  • Examines welds for appropriate bead size and other specifications.
  • Records time accurately to customer jobs by utilizing the ERP system.
  • Operates and uses overhead hoist (with crane) and rigging techniques to safely and properly lift and maneuver tanks.
  • Operates powered industrial trucks including motorized pallet jacks.
  • Prioritizes safety and compliance such as completing training requirements timely and wearing personal protective equipment.
  • Performs other relevant duties, tasks, assignments, and projects, upon request or as business needs require.
