About The Position

Eriez is seeking a Welder to join their team at the Wager Road facility. In this role, you will be responsible for assembling component parts or pieces according to blueprints or schematics. You will also be responsible for quality checking completed items, managing parts inventory, and using hand tools and mechanical equipment to produce structurally sound products and structures. This position ensures customer satisfaction by providing safe, reliable operation of Eriez equipment. The role requires the ability to weld components in various positions (vertical, flat, overhead) and perform sanitary welding tasks efficiently. You will also plan work order procedures, gather necessary tools and materials, and monitor the welding process to prevent overheating or damage. Operation of overhead cranes, clamping devices, plasma cutters, carbon arcs, and potentially forklifts is also part of the role. Maintaining a clean and safe work area, completing tasks efficiently, and using various tools are essential. You will also learn Eriez's labor and work order collection system and notify supervisors of any faulty equipment or defective materials.

Requirements

Can read, write, and comprehend.
Have basic computer usage knowledge.
Can read tape measures, blueprints, and schematics.
Have a welding tech degree/certificate or 2+ years of applicable welding experience - may consider if degree in process.
Visually identify stainless steel, aluminum, mild steel and other materials.
Able to read and interpret engineering drawings and use basic shop math including decimals and fractions.
Thorough understanding of machines and tools used in welding including designs, uses, maintenance and repair.
Basic understanding of design techniques, principles, and tools necessary for the precise production of technical plans, drawings, models and blueprints.
Excellent ability to read and listen to assignments given in a variety of forms.
Required to pass a pre-employment occupational physical.
Possess the ability to recognize and avoid safety hazards.
Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for an extended period.
Must be able to lift to 50 pounds at times.
Must be able to traverse facilities and machinery by climbing, balancing, lifting, walking, stooping, and carrying materials.
This includes the ability to alternate between sitting and standing.
Be physically active for long periods without experiencing excessive fatigue.
Must have manual dexterity and stability as required for precision work.
Must be able to see details at close range and at distance with or without corrective lenses.
Ability to communicate and understand information to and from another employee.
Must possess the ability to adjust to a dynamic work environment.
The ability to safely push and pull as needed to perform duties directly associated with scope of work.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma is preferred.
AWS D.1.1 Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

Assemble products or sub-assemblies using various welding techniques including Mig, Tig, Stick and Flux-cored Arc Welding.
Weld components that are vertical, flat, or overhead.
Set machine for welding (i.e. wire feed, amperage, etc.).
Prepare, assemble, fit and tack weld parts and surfaces to be welded.
Perform sanitary welding tasks efficiently.
Plan details of work order procedures; gather required tools and materials based on instructions and specifications provided for the job.
Monitor the welding, burning, and fitting process to ensure parts are not overheated or damaged by warping, distortion, expansion, or shrinkage.
Operate overhead cranes, clamping devices.
Operate plasma cutter and carbon arc.
May need to operate power equipment such as forklifts.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Maintain clean and safe work area.
Complete tasks timely and efficiently in accordance with expectations as directed by supervisor.
Able to operate tools including but not limited to hand tools, manual machine tools, torch, drill press, etc.
Ability to learn Eriez labor and work order collection system.
Notify supervisor when faulty equipment or defective materials are discovered.
