About The Position

Meeco Sullivan - The Marina Company, with the addition of Wahoo Docks and Ravens Marine, has over 200 years of experience and a well-earned reputation for the highest quality steel, timber, and aluminum dock systems that are time tested and storm proven. With our four manufacturing facilities in Warwick, New York, McAlester, OK, Dahlonega, GA, and Kissimmee, FL, we have more production capacity and expertise in galvanized steel, timber, and aluminum than anyone in North America. The primary responsibility of the Welder is MIG welding aluminum parts and assembling dock structures. Each job must be completed safely, accurately, cleanly, and timely, and pass quality control inspection.

Requirements

  • MIG welding aluminum parts
  • Assembling dock structures
  • Read blueprints (weld symbols)
  • Prepare product to be welded by grinding, drilling, milling, tapping, and cutting aluminum parts.
  • Change wire, welding, as needed.
  • Proper packaging, identifying, and moving of all finished products.
  • Proper equipment setup and safe usage, including safety devices.
  • Operate forklift, if required and trained.
  • First piece inspections as well as all subsequent inspections.
  • Study assembly instructions, blueprint specifications, and parts lists.
  • Gather parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials.
  • Position parts and subassemblies using templates or reading measurements.
  • Assemble components by examining connections for correct fit, fastening parts and subassemblies.
  • Verify specifications by measuring complete components.
  • Resolve assembly problems by altering dimensions to meet specifications.
  • Complete preventive maintenance requirements.
  • Observe all safety rules and regulations.
  • Act safely and be responsible for the safety of others.
  • Follow manufacturer's instructions; troubleshoot malfunctions; call for repairs.
  • Maintain safe and clean working environment.
  • Check stock to determine inventory level; anticipate needed supplies; place and expedite orders for supplies; verify receipt of supplies.
  • Use equipment and supplies as needed.
  • Complete production and quality forms.
  • Use of machines and hand tools necessary for tool fabrication, including lathe, milling machining, band saw, jig saw, drill press, filter, grinders, arc welder, brazing unit, and other standard tools.
  • Bending, lifting, and pushing up to 70 pounds is required.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect welds for accuracy.
  • Prepare product to be welded by grinding, drilling, milling, tapping, and cutting aluminum parts.
  • Change wire, welding, as needed.
  • Responsible for the proper packaging, identifying, and moving of all finished products to the proper location.
  • Ensure all equipment is properly set up and used in a safe manner and that all safety devices are in use.
  • Operate forklift, if required and trained.
  • Performs first piece inspections as well as all subsequent inspections as required by Wahoo Docks standards.
  • Prepares work to be accomplished by studying assembly instructions, blueprint specifications, and parts lists, gathering parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials.
  • Positions parts and subassemblies by using templates or reading measurements.
  • Assembles components by examining connections for correct fit, fastening parts and subassemblies.
  • Verifies specifications by measuring complete components.
  • Resolves assembly problems by altering dimensions to meet specifications, notifying supervisors to obtain additional resources.
  • Keeps equipment operational by completing preventive maintenance requirements.
  • Observes all safety rules and regulations.
  • Must act safely and be responsible for the safety of others around the work area.
  • Following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Maintains supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies.
  • Conserves resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
  • Documents actions by completing production and quality forms.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
