About The Position

STERLING PROCESS EQUIPMENT & SERVICES, INC. is seeking a Welder to fit and weld fabrications such as tanks, platforms, skidded piping systems, conveyors, and sheet metal weldments. The ideal candidate is passionate about leading a team to complete complex fabrications, is a motivated, humble, and smart team-player who can balance being people-oriented and results-driven. This role involves delivering on-time fabrications that meet customer requirements and uphold Sterling's standards of quality, professionalism, and safety. The Welder will communicate status updates, interface with multiple departments and subcontractors, and build strong relationships with customers and co-workers.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Graduation from a welding school OR 4+ years relevant experience in welding/fitting role in related industry
  • Ability to work weekend and holidays as needed.
  • Driver’s license with clean driving record and reliable transportation
  • Hand tools and other trade tools
  • Ability to travel (by car and airplane)
  • Clean driving record
  • Pass background check
  • Ability to work weekend shifts
  • Ability to start shift at 5am when overtime is required

Nice To Haves

  • TIG/GTAW position welding, Stainless Steel preferred.
  • MIG/GMAW position welding, Stainless Steel preferred.
  • Certified welder (6G, TIG/GTAW)
  • Back gas purge welding of pipe and tubing.
  • Fitting & Basic math/layout skills.
  • Mechanical ability.
  • Blue print reading.
  • Willingness to accept ownership of complex tasks and see them through to successful completion.
  • Must be able to work as a positive team member, with professional attitude and respect.
  • Must be able to work in a multi-task environment with unexpected interruptions and schedule changes.
  • Creative problem solving ability.
  • Self-starter with limited supervision required.
  • Orbital welding.
  • Polishing of metal to 3A sanitary finish.
  • Rigging skills.
  • Plasma Cutting.
  • Equipment operation (forklifts, overhead cranes, etc.).
  • Safety & CPR Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, fit and weld in accordance with drawings and direction of management.
  • Inspect welds performed for continuity, size, appearance and penetration.
  • Clean/polish welds as dictated by project specifications.
  • Assist in the rigging/setting of equipment and fabrications.
  • Review completed designs and fabrications for accuracy of fit, finish and function with Project Manager and/or Quality Manager.
  • Participate in project team meetings.
  • Adhere to Sterling procedures for management of expense & time reporting.
  • Maintain orderly work area/job box, material & tool staging, and drawings to aid collaboration with co-workers.
  • Operate within company and customer expectations for quality, standards adherence and safety considerations for all designs.
  • Be accountable to customer and Management for all aspects of project performance, satisfying expectations, timeliness and quality of deliverables.
  • Meet with Project Team to regularly review challenges, solutions, measurables and successes.
  • Make recommendations for improvements in efficiency, processes, equipment and techniques and provide justification to management to support such ideas.
  • Accept constructive criticism and coaching from manager and team members to improve personal skills.
  • Other duties as assigned.
