About The Position

The Craftsman is a trained artisan able to work with wood, plastics, metals, and other similar materials. They are required to have a good overall mechanical and assembly knowledge, while specializing in several aspects of fabrication. They need to be self-motivated to not only tackle immediate tasks but also be able to forecast tasks in the work process. A high-quality level of assembly and finish is required and should be expected. Fabricator Responsibilities * Conduct checks for weld quality, and dimension tolerance; * Occasional overtime required when necessary; * Other duties as assigned by Manager; * Operation of jib crane; * Lifting, moving, and holding or clamping work pieces to table, into jigs, or into position as directed manually or by using pry bar; * Moving work pieces, tools, and supplies, manually or by hand truck; * Report and detail product malfunctions; * Welds aluminum and steel component parts; * Bolts, clamps, and tack welds parts in place to secure for welding operations; * Plans layout, assembly, and welding of products; * Read blueprints; * Verify dimensions and product specifications; * Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and engineering plans; * Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws.

Requirements

  • High standard of integrity and professionalism
  • Basic understanding of electricity
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Studying the blue print and “seeing” the completed product before starting
  • Familiarity with common welding tools and procedures, including MIG welding TIG welding, metal fabricating, grinding, and finishing metals
  • Regular and on-time attendance
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and engineering plans
  • Good communication and interaction skills
  • Attendance is critical
  • Knowledge of shop tools and equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings
  • Ability to weld thin gauge material (16ga to 10ga)
  • Ability and desire to work as part of a team
  • Mechanical aptitude

Responsibilities

  • Ability to read and understand drawings and assembly instructions.
  • Gather materials and items needed for a project and assemble them in a timely manner.
  • Communicate with the other craftsman, Supervisor, and Project Manager as needed to gather information or materials for a project, as well as stock supplies.
  • Maintain tools and equipment to ensure their viability.
  • Utilize and maintain safety equipment needed within the company to insure a safe and comfortable work environment for the team.
  • Maintain a clean and organized studio space.
  • Ability to work at heights, lift heavy material, stand for long durations, bend/squat.
