About The Position
Carolina Metal Recyclers (CMR) is hiring a skilled Welder and Fabricator to join our 2nd shift operations. This is a hands-on role in a tough, outdoor scrap yard environment where you’ll perform a variety of welding tasks to support equipment maintenance and repair. This is a fully outdoor position in a rugged, scrap metal environment.
Requirements
- 5+ years of SMAW/stick welding experience (required)
- Ability to work in physically demanding outdoor conditions (heat, cold, dust, noise)
- Reliable, safety-focused, and team-oriented
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Must pass welding test and supply your own face shield
Nice To Haves
- Experience in shredder or heavy equipment maintenance is a plus
Responsibilities
- Perform SMAW/stick welding to fabricate and repair metal structures and equipment
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and diagrams to determine welding requirements
- Inspect completed welds for structural soundness and quality
- Assist with general equipment maintenance and repairs when welding is not required
- Maintain a safe work area and follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements
