Under general supervision, this role applies appropriate welds to fabricate or repair compactors, containers, and carts. The position involves performing minor repairs, basic welding processes, and preventive maintenance inspections, including diagnostics and repair of electrical and hydraulic systems on compactors. The technician will be qualified in various welding processes such as arc welding, gas welding, aluminum welding, brazing, and soft soldering on a variety of materials. Safety checks on compactors and containers are also a key responsibility. The role requires completing required paperwork using fleet maintenance software, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times. Assistance to senior welders, performing service calls for compactor repair, and related work such as flame cutting, bending, forming, beveling, and notching of metal and plastic parts are also part of the duties. All work must be performed within Standard Repair Times (SRTs), from prints, drawings, and verbal instructions, with standard layouts and set-ups of dimensions and tolerances. The technician will utilize standard shop hand tools, measuring devices, and equipment, and perform other maintenance-related work as required. Maintaining a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standards and performing all work in accordance with established safety procedures are essential.
