About The Position

Game Aerospace is a growing business that designs, manufactures, and sells composite airplanes. Our hand-crafted airplanes are delivered and flown around the world. The Welder and Fabricator is primarily responsible for constructing prototype and production parts using (GTAW) to the standard of AWS D17.1 class A welding. In addition to operating typical metal fabrication equipment, they operate CNC machines such as press brakes and laser cutters using engineering instructions and drawings. Other responsibilities include fabrication of welding and assembly jigs, test stands and fixtures, and production support equipment using MIG.

Requirements

  • Two years’ welding experience using GTAW and MIG equipment in a professional setting.
  • Thorough understanding of machines and tools used in welding and metal fabrication.
  • Ability to read weld symbols and follow blueprints.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations related to metal fabrication and welding.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Must have the physical ability to weld components that are vertical, flat, or overhead with sufficient manual dexterity and stability required for precision work.

Nice To Haves

  • Two-year degree in welding, welding technology, or similar.
  • Experience in aerospace repair or manufacturing.
  • Current qualifications that support welding 4130 to AWS D17.1

Responsibilities

  • Follows all Game Aerospace safety programs and requirements.
  • Adheres to production schedule.
  • Reads, assembles, and welds from blueprints.
  • Prepares, assembles, and tacks weld parts and surfaces to be welded.
  • Monitors the welding, burning, and fitting process to ensure parts are not overheated or damaged by warping, distortion, expansion, or shrinkage.
  • GMAW/MIG Spray Transfer welding. Settings up to 250 Amp, 32 Volt, 400 IPM wire speed. 1G, 2G and 3G welding daily. Uses .045 - .052 metal core wire using 90/10 gas.
  • Grinds and wire wheels product to clean smooth surfaces for painting.
  • Inspects final products to print for quality assurance.
  • Tags all final products for identification.
  • Maintains, organizes, and cleans equipment and the work area.
  • Operates overhead and jib style crane.
  • Operates a forklift.
  • Notifies supervisor when faulty equipment or defective materials are discovered.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
