About The Position

The Weld Technician will be responsible for auditing structural and A surface welds twice daily, ensuring all weld lines meet standards. This role involves correcting and coaching welders and leads, documenting non-conforming welds in a daily audit report for management, and collaborating with QC inspectors to resolve weld issues. The technician will also verify welder settings, gas mixes, and consumables according to standards, troubleshoot welding equipment, and ensure proper maintenance of grounds, leads, and guns. Additionally, the role requires reviewing prints and weld maps, assisting in the creation of Standard Work for weld lines, and maintaining familiarity with a manufacturing environment. The position also includes auditing weld Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and ensuring proper body and hand placement. Any other duties as assigned will also be part of the responsibilities.

Requirements

Minimum 5 years welding experience
Must be familiar with a manufacturing environment

Nice To Haves

Management experience preferred
Valid welding certifications preferred
Destructive testing experience preferred

Responsibilities

Audit structural and A surface welds 2x per day, every weld line.
Correct and coach welders and leads as needed.
Document any non-conforming welds into a daily audit report to be submitted to the Quality, Production and Plant managers.
Communicate with QC inspectors to solve any weld issues coming through finish.
Verify welder settings per standard.
Check gas mixes are to standard.
Troubleshoot welding equipment issues.
Knowledge of welder power supply.
Check consumables are installed correctly.
Verify there are no bare grounds or damaged leads and guns.
Review and verify prints/weld maps.
Help create Standard Work on weld lines.
Audit Weld PPE.
Audit Proper Body and Hand Placement.
Perform any other duties as assigned.
