About The Position

Assist experienced welders with preparing materials, operating equipment, and maintaining a safe work environment to support the welding process. This role involves supporting Welder I and Welder II in various welding tasks, preparing workpieces, helping set up equipment, and ensuring proper handling and storage of materials. The position requires the ability to read basic welding blueprints, assist in tack welding, and maintain a safe and clean work environment. Additionally, the role involves effective communication, strong interpersonal skills, good decision-making, multitasking, and the ability to work effectively in a team and fast-paced environment. The physical demands include lifting up to 50lbs, standing or sitting for extended periods, and working in a manufacturing facility with varying temperatures, dust, and potential chemical fume exposure.

Responsibilities

  • Assists Welder I and Welder II in various welding tasks as directed.
  • Prepares workpieces for welding by cleaning, grinding, and scraping as necessary.
  • Helps set up welding equipment and tools under supervision.
  • Handles and stores welding materials and equipment properly.
  • Operates power tools and hand tools under guidance.
  • Reads and interprets basic welding blueprints and instructions.
  • Assists in tack welding components together for final welding.
  • Supports Welder I and Welder II in maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
  • Learns and follows safety procedures and guidelines at all times.
  • Assists in training and mentoring new helpers as needed.
