About The Position

Alloy Engineering is seeking a hands-on Welding / Fabrication Supervisor to lead their 2nd shift operations in Berea, OH. This is a critical leadership role with full responsibility for production, quality, and team performance. The ideal candidate is a strong shop-floor leader experienced in fast-paced fabrication environments. The Weld / Fabrication Supervisor is accountable for the execution of welding and forming operations on the second shift, ensuring that production targets for schedule, quality, safety, and labor are met. This individual acts as the primary on-shift leader, making immediate decisions to maintain workflow, resolve issues, and achieve results independently of day-shift leadership.

Requirements

  • 7+ years in fabrication or welding manufacturing
  • 2+ years in a leadership role
  • Strong knowledge of welding processes (GMAW, GTAW)
  • Experience in job shop or heavy fabrication preferred
  • Blueprint reading and welding symbols proficiency
  • Experience leading teams in fast-paced environments

Responsibilities

  • Own execution of the daily production schedule for forming and welding operations
  • Ensure work is completed on time and to quality standards
  • Identify and resolve bottlenecks in real time to maintain flow
  • Sequence work within the shift to support overall plant priorities
  • Maintain control of WIP to prevent downstream delays or accumulation
  • Coordinate workflow between welding, press brake, and upstream fabrication processes
  • Ensure balanced flow of work across operations
  • Adjust labor and priorities as conditions change
  • Own safety performance on shift including hazard recognition and incident response
  • Maintain disciplined work environment and PPE compliance
  • Address unsafe conditions immediately
  • Ensure welds meet ASME, AWS and company standards
  • Drive in-process quality discipline and containment of non-conformances
  • Support root cause identification and corrective actions
  • Lead and develop welders and fabrication personnel
  • Assign work and optimize labor utilization
  • Provide coaching, feedback, and performance oversight
  • Support training and skill development
  • Lead thru Visual Metrics – Safety, OTD, Quality, Productivity, Rework, and Utilization
  • Provide structured daily handoff to plant supervision and Plant Manager
  • Escalate production risks early
  • Ensure clear communication across shifts
  • Resolve technical production issues in real time
  • Implement countermeasures to maintain output
  • Support continuous improvement efforts
  • Serve as the first point of contact for technical issues impacting welding, forming, and fabrication operations on shift
  • Troubleshoot weld defects, fit-up issues, distortion, and process inconsistencies in real time
  • Interpret prints, WPS requirements, and welding symbols to guide proper execution and correct errors
  • Support resolution of equipment-related issues (weld machines, fixtures, press brakes) in coordination with maintenance as needed
  • Identify root causes of recurring process problems and implement immediate countermeasures to maintain production flow
  • Partner with Engineering & Quality to resolve complex technical issues and ensure corrective actions are sustained
  • Provide hands-on guidance and coaching to operators to improve technique, consistency, and overall workmanship
  • Ensure technical issues are documented, communicated, and handed off effectively between shifts
