About The Position

As a Weld Engineer, you will support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of welding requirements, procedures, and programs for the fabrication of nuclear components. The Welding Engineer also supports fabrication activities, resolves welding-related issues, maintains ASME Section III welding programs, and evaluates new technologies and process improvements that enhance safety, quality, and cost performance. You will report to the Engineering Manager and be located at Newington, NH. You will support this role 100% onsite.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university in Weld Engineering.
  • 2+ years of experience as a Welding Engineer or related position in a highly regulated industry such as nuclear component manufacturing, shipbuilding, or aerospace manufacturing facility.
  • Working knowledge of AWS, ASME Codes including ASME Section II, III, VIII, IX, AWS D1.1, and NAVSEA Technical Publications 1688, 248, and 278. Experience with NAVSEA 250-1500-1 is also relevant.
  • Experience with the qualification of welders and welding procedures, including parameter development.
  • Familiarity with SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, and SAW welding processes.
  • Working knowledge of ASME NQA-1 quality assurance requirements and Welding Program best practices.
  • High level of knowledge related to implementation and use of electronic welding management or shop traveler system.

Responsibilities

  • Review contract, design, and regulatory requirements to develop project welding specifications.
  • Provide guidance to fabricators for compliance with project welding requirements.
  • Create, review, and implement weld maps, drawings, PQRs and WPSs, and Welding Programs to ensure conformance with project requirements.
  • Support the continued development of the WELD software package and associated PQR and WPS databases.
  • Provide input to estimates and proposals for welding-related activities.
  • Provide consultation, technical responses, and support for welding-related questions and issues raised by Authorized Nuclear Inspectors (ANIs), Code and regulatory bodies, clients, and internal customers.
  • Provide support for the maintenance and development of the Westinghouse ASME Section III corporate certificate programs.
  • Support manufacturing components as related to welding activities.
  • Focus on leaning out fabrication processes from a standpoint of cost, quality and safety.
  • Implement new welding technologies and equipment.
