Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Weld Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Experience with machine vision systems for weld inspection
  • Experience maintaining and optimizing in-production weld visual inspection systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot vision-based inspection and monitoring systems
  • Understanding of data-driven manufacturing and real-time monitoring
  • Knowledge of GMAW processes and power supplies (Fronius preferred)
  • Knowledge of resistance welding processes and power supplies (WTC preferred)
  • Knowledge of robotic welding robots (ABB or Yaskawa preferred)
  • Knowledge of process monitoring systems including setup and calibration
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
  • Strong documentation and technical writing skills
  • Continuous improvement mindset and adaptability to new technologies
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment
  • Visual acuity is necessary to read prints, specifications and work instructions, manipulate parts, tools, machines and other objects.
  • Hearing acuity to understand verbal instructions, respond to emergency signals.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak the English language to communicate with other staff
  • Exposure to moderate to high levels of noise, laser beams, flashing or blinking lights, machine signals and other sounds associated with a manufacturing environment.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in the form of safety glasses and safety footwear is required when on the shop floor.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Implement, maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize in-production weld visual inspection systems
  • Implement, maintain and support weld process monitoring systems including calibration and data tracking
  • Ensure inspection and monitoring systems remain production-ready and reliable
  • Analyze vision and monitoring data to identify trends and improve quality
  • Collaborate with automation teams to improve real-time inspection capabilities
  • Support Industry 4.0 and smart manufacturing initiatives
  • Provide technical welding expertise to support production and new programs
  • Lead root cause investigations related to weld defects
  • Develop and maintain weld parameters, procedures, and standards
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards
  • Hands-on involvement in high-impact manufacturing and digital transformation initiatives
  • Ability to work in a collaborative and team-oriented work environment
  • Exposure to advanced manufacturing technologies and Industry 4.0 practices
