About The Position

The Weld Engineer will be responsible for developing and improving welding processes and procedures, researching new technologies, and ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards. This role involves hands-on experimentation, technical reporting, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to resolve production and customer concerns.

Requirements

  • Ability to evaluate new developments in the welding and robotic field.
  • Ability to coordinate technical personnel in performing inspections.
  • Ability to prepare technical reports.
  • Ability to develop new or modify current welding, robotic, and assembly methods, techniques, and procedures.
  • Ability to improve existing or develop new welding equipment.
  • Ability to conduct research to develop and test new fabrication processes and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research to develop and test new fabrication processes and procedures.
  • Improve existing or develop new welding equipment.
  • Develop new or modify current welding, robotic, and assembly methods, techniques, and procedures.
  • Discover new patterns of welding and robotic technology.
  • Prepare technical reports as a result of research, development, and preventative maintenance investigations.
  • Establish weld procedures to guide the production team relating to specifications/processes.
  • Evaluate new developments in the welding and robotic field for possible application to current welding and robotic problems or production processes.
  • Coordinate technical personnel in performing inspections to ensure worker’s compliance with established welding procedures, restrictions, and standards; in testing weld for compliance with national code requirements; or testing welding personnel for certification.
  • Perform experimental welding to evaluate new equipment, techniques, and materials.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of work instructions in compliance with QMS requirements.
  • Interface with internal/external customers.
  • Lead team members in problem-solving with regard to production, customer, and supplier concerns.
  • Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any non-conformities relating to product, process, and quality system.
  • Troubleshoot shop floor weld, robotic, and assembly issues and quickly identify necessary countermeasures.
  • Enforce safety and sanitary regulations.
  • Confer with other supervisors to coordinate operations and activities including maintenance and production personnel to quickly resolve tooling issues for welding emergency conditions.
  • Perform other essential functions as assigned.
