About The Position

We are seeking a motivated Weights Engineering Intern to support aircraft mass properties and physical aircraft weighing activities. This role provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience supporting the design, development, certification, production, and in-service activities of De Havilland’s aircraft portfolio. Working alongside experienced engineers in both office and hangar environments, you will assist with aircraft weight and center of gravity (CG) data collection, analysis, and documentation. This is a 12-16 month internship starting in September, 2026.

Requirements

Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
Basic understanding of engineering principles and aircraft systems.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other standard office software.
Ability to work effectively in both office and hangar environments.
Maintain strict adherence to De Havilland Aircraft of Canada (DHC) Health & Safety Policies.
Work in various environmental conditions, including temperature extremes, confined spaces, heights, and around chemicals.
Must be able to climb, stand, kneel, lift (up to 50 pounds), push, pull, bend, reach, carry, walk, crawl, balance, and use stairs.
Must be able to work shift rotations including weekends and/or night shifts, on-call or overtime as occasionally required.
Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required for workplace safety.
Ensure the ability to maintain a positive fit test when mask use is necessary.

Nice To Haves

Interest in aircraft mass properties, weight and balance, or aircraft certification.
Familiarity with CAD software such as CATIA, NX, or SolidWorks.
Experience with engineering data analysis through coursework, projects, or internships.
Knowledge of aircraft weight and balance concepts is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

Assist with physical aircraft weighing activities, including equipment setup, aircraft leveling, and data collection.
Support the preparation and maintenance of aircraft weight statements and mass properties databases.
Help review and organize supplier and internal component weight data.
Assist engineering teams with weight tracking and basic weight impact assessments.
Prepare reports, spreadsheets, and documentation to support certification and customer delivery activities.
Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Flight Test teams on assigned projects.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to weight management processes and tools.
