About The Position

The Weighmaster is responsible for coordinating and completing all transactions required for the receiving and shipment of scrap, alloy, and supplies. This role involves directing the loading, unloading, and weighing of materials, completing shipping and receiving transactions, verifying material conformance, scheduling carriers, and maintaining logs. The Weighmaster also manages mobile equipment deployment and maintenance, serves as a contact for customers and suppliers, orders supplies, and conducts inventories. This position acts as a go-to resource in the absence of a supervisor, providing leadership and training to new staff, and ensuring adherence to all company policies and safety regulations. The role also involves specific checks for radiation, material deviations, and preparing samples for the lab.

Requirements

  • Ability to operate scales, lift truck, computer terminals, and printers.
  • Familiarity with scrap, alloy, and melting supplies.
  • Knowledge of shipping and receiving procedures.
  • Ability to verify material conformance to specifications.
  • Understanding of radiation detection systems.
  • Experience with carrier scheduling and BOL creation.
  • Skills in inventory management and auditing.
  • Strong leadership and team player skills.

  • Acting liaison in the absence of supervision between all departments.
  • The weighmaster is the go-to position when the Supervisor is not there. This position will receive phone calls or task that will need to get to the appropriate jobs. He will ask them to complete task or gather info.
  • Participates in Company Wide Continuous Improvements.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly workspace.
  • Performs miscellaneous duties as directed.

Responsibilities

  • Directs loading, unloading and weighing of all incoming and outgoing materials and supplies.
  • Completes all required shipping and receiving transactions including data entry, distributing information, and maintaining records.
  • Verifies incoming material conformance to purchasing specifications and reports nonconformance.
  • Checks for radiation entering the plant and performs daily system checks.
  • Schedules carriers and completes transactions for scrap material conversion.
  • Creates BOL’s for shipments to customers and other Carpenter Facilities.
  • Maintains scheduled receipts log and notifies relevant personnel of scheduling problems.
  • Responsible for deployment of mobile equipment to support efficient process flow.
  • Schedules mobile equipment repairs and periodic maintenance, and maintains inspection logs.
  • Serves as scrap yard contact for internal and external customers and suppliers.
  • Acts as a liaison in the absence of supervision between all departments.
  • Orders supplies for Raw Materials Services.
  • Conducts physical scrap and alloy inventories and audits.
  • Maintains effective working relationships and provides leadership as a team player.
  • Assists in the completion of other department tasks as required.
  • Aids new staff in the training of processes and procedures.
  • Checks for CTC requirements on all BOL’s for Purchasing and Audits on all inbound material.
  • Confirms material with deviations meets approval and notifies proper personnel before allowing entry.
  • Prepares and bar codes samples for the Lab.
