About The Position

This is an entry-level seasonal position responsible for the operation of the grain elevator as it pertains to loading, unloading, and transferring grain and grain products in an efficient, safe, and sanitary manner. The role also assists or leads in all other aspects of grain handling, storage, maintaining facilities/equipment, and elevator operations. This role is not expected to exceed four months' duration, though there is strong potential to convert to year-round employment based on performance and business needs.

Requirements

  • Basic written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a safety-conscious environment.
  • Ability to work in a quality-controlled environment.
  • Regularly walk, bend and stoop.
  • Regularly required to walk on catwalks at a variety of heights; up to 200 feet with appropriate safety equipment.
  • Regularly climbs stairs and ladders.
  • Regularly lifts up to 75 pounds.
  • Regularly enters and works in confined spaces.

Nice To Haves

  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent is preferred.
  • One (1) year of grain industry experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operating the PLC and necessary equipment for operating the grain elevator.
  • Proper and accurate weighing and sampling of all inbound and outbound grain and grain products.
  • Assisting in housekeeping, including the cleanliness and orderliness of the grain handling area, plant, or office as delegated by supervisor.
  • Proper calibration of all grain testing equipment, conducting cross-checks for grain testing and weighing equipment, and proper documentation.
  • Conducting applicable toxin testing on all inbound and/or outbound grain, packaging samples for shipment/storage, and properly shipping grain samples to the appropriate lab.
  • Proper operations of all grain weighing equipment, software, and systems.
  • Accurately recording all applicable documentation and reporting any errors or irregularities.
  • Developing product knowledge and understanding how to handle any hazardous properties of products.
  • Awareness and adherence to all applicable safety and environmental regulations with respect to the product being handled.
  • Compliance with all Company safety programs and policies.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
