About The Position

Milliken & Company's Highland Plant in Cheraw, SC is seeking a Weft Insertion Operator to run large industrial knitting machines that produce fabric rolls for the roofing industry. This role involves operating and monitoring assigned machines to ensure continuous production and maintain quality specifications. The department typically operates 40 hours per week, with one opening on the third shift (12 am to 8 am). Work hours and days may vary based on customer orders. The company is willing to train individuals with similar manufacturing experience.

Similar manufacturing jobs in previous positions (training provided).
Ability to follow Plant Safety and Work Rules.
Willingness to attend required safety training.
Ability to follow specific instructions from leadership.
Responsibility for good housekeeping and safety.
Ability to frequently inspect cloth and machines.
Ability to assist with machine components.
Ability to monitor machines/quality for other operators.
Ability to communicate yarn or machine-related problems to appropriate personnel.

Responsibilities

Start up and patrol an assigned set of Weft Insertion industrial sewing machines.
Observe running machines for off-quality issues.
Draw in broken yarn ends as necessary.
Keep yarn filled in the creel.
Maintain records of observed defects.
Assist Weft Technicians, Threaders, or Doffers as necessary.
Ensure assigned machines function in production while maintaining quality specifications.
Follow all Plant Safety and Work Rules, and attend required safety training.
Follow specific instructions from the department Lead/Manager and/or Supervisor.
Maintain good housekeeping and safety.
Frequently inspect all cloth and machines to prevent running of defects and off-quality.
Assist the threader or technician in removing and replacing guide bars and other machine components as requested.
Watch machines/quality for other operators during their breaks.
Inform the Weft Technician or Department Supervisor/Manager of yarn or machine-related problems.
Perform any other duties as directed by Supervisor/Manager or department Lead.
