About The Position

Milliken & Company is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Weft Insertion Creeler to assist with manufacturing industrial roofing fabrics at its Highland Plant in Cheraw, South Carolina. This role supplies raw materials to manufacturing machines in the Weft Insertion Department, supporting efficient operation, minimizing downtime, and helping ensure timely delivery of customer products.

The Weft Insertion Creeler loads and maintains yarn packages placed on creels around machines. These packages feed yarn to linear knitting machines used to produce industrial textile fabrics. The role involves loading, changing, and monitoring weft packages, maintaining yarn quality, and preventing interruptions to the yarn supply. The position is for third shift, 12:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. Schedules are customer-driven and may change; the plant is currently working an average of five days per week, and weekend work is sometimes required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain personal safety, wear required PPE, report unsafe conditions, accidents, and near misses, attend required safety meetings and training, and follow site safety rules.
• Load and replace yarn packages on creels according to production specifications.
• Tie in yarns and ensure proper threading to maintain continuous machine operation.
• Monitor yarn tension, breaks, and alignment, and address issues promptly to minimize downtime.
• Transport yarn packages and materials to and from creeling areas.
• Accurately complete production and material tracking documentation.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of creel and surrounding work areas.
• Assist machine operators and technicians as needed to support production goals.
• Perform other duties as specified by the Lead/Supervisor or Department Manager.
