About The Position

Veterinary Care & Specialty Group (VCSG) is seeking an experienced Triage Veterinary Technician to join their Emergency team. This role is crucial for ensuring efficient patient care in a busy emergency setting. The technician will assess incoming patients, manage patient flow, communicate with families, and support veterinarians during procedures. The position requires technical expertise in areas such as phlebotomy, IV catheter placement, anesthesia monitoring, and diagnostics, along with a commitment to maintaining an organized workspace. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, values learning, and demonstrates honesty, integrity, and empathy.

Requirements

  • Compassionate and detail-oriented
  • Experienced in emergency, urgent care, or specialty practice
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced environments
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks smoothly
  • Strict focus on accuracy during critical moments
  • Proficient in advanced venipuncture, IV catheterization, in-house diagnostics, and medical calculations
  • Well-versed in emergency protocols, CPR
  • Excellent communicator and team player
  • Minimum 2 years of proven veterinary experience (specialty or emergency experience preferred)
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs

Responsibilities

  • Assess incoming patients
  • Keep the ER flowing smoothly
  • Maintain clear, compassionate communication with patient families
  • Support veterinarians and specialists during exams and emergency procedures
  • Perform technical skills including phlebotomy, IV catheter placement, advanced anesthesia monitoring, and diagnostics
  • Maintain an organized and efficient workspace
  • Handle patients using 'Fear Free' techniques
  • Administer medications following the '5 Rights'
