About The Position

The Weekend RN Supervisor will be responsible for patient care oversight, staff management, administrative duties, and ensuring compliance with safety and healthcare regulations. This position requires strong leadership and clinical skills to manage operations effectively during weekend shifts.

Requirements

  • Current RN license in the state of practice
  • CPR certification required
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Several years of nursing experience, typically including long-term care, geriatrics, or hospital settings
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and remain calm under pressure
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Nice To Haves

  • Additional specialty certifications may be preferred
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in nursing is often preferred
  • Prior supervisory experience is advantageous

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and mentor nursing staff, including LPNs, CNAs, and other RNs, during weekend shifts.
  • Assist in scheduling, training, and evaluating staff performance.
  • Provide guidance on complex nursing issues and resolve operational or clinical problems.
  • Ensure all patients receive appropriate care according to care plans and physician orders.
  • Conduct rounds with physicians.
  • Monitor patient well-being and address concerns promptly.
  • Assist in hiring decisions and recommend training.
  • Maintain accurate records.
  • Perform narcotic reconciliation at the start and end of shifts.
  • Manage inventories and controlled logs as required.
  • Follow infection control protocols, safety guidelines, and emergency procedures.
  • Identify and report unsafe conditions.
  • Ensure compliance with resident rights and confidentiality standards.
  • Build rapport with patients, families, and staff.
  • Communicate effectively with healthcare team members.
  • Handle grievances and provide professional support to visitors and residents.
