About The Position

The Rest Area Attendant is responsible for performing all contract requirements within the state time frames and ensures that the rest areas meet or exceed the standards set forth by TDOT. Shifts are available on Saturdays and Sundays, either from 7 AM to 7 PM or 7 PM to 7 AM. The role involves maintaining cleanliness and safety of rest area facilities, including restrooms, grounds, and common areas, as well as completing necessary paperwork and reporting any issues to the supervisor.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Physical and mental alertness to perform the requirements of the contract and duties
  • Use of safety glasses, masks, gloves, and other specified safety equipment

Responsibilities

  • Perform all contract requirements within state time frames.
  • Ensure rest areas meet or exceed TDOT standards.
  • Complete necessary paperwork accurately and on time.
  • Comply with Easter Seals Policies and Procedures, Employee Handbook, TDOT quality standards, HIPAA, Title VI, and Confidentiality requirements.
  • Attend in-service training sessions, meetings, and out-of-town activities as required.
  • Promote a positive work environment by treating staff and visitors with courtesy and respect.
  • Comply with all aspects of the contract with TDOT.
  • Maintain restrooms in a clean and sanitary condition, adding supplies and cleaning as needed.
  • Maintain the foyer and reception area in a clean, attractive, and sanitary state.
  • Keep the storage area clean, neat, and secure.
  • Report any necessary repairs to the Rest Area Supervisor.
  • Sweep or hose down parking lot areas, sidewalks, and walkways at least once each shift.
  • Maintain walkways to keep them free of snow and ice.
  • Maintain grounds by raking leaves and mowing grass.
  • Maintain shrubbery care, including weeding, watering, and mulching.
  • Collect trash from receptacles and take to the garbage bin.
  • Complete required Quality Control Check List and perform all required duties within time frames listed on the checklist each shift.
  • Clean windows and light fixtures at least weekly or as necessary.
  • Clean floors, doors, and water fountains at least once each shift.
  • Clean door mats daily.
  • Remove all trash, paper, and other debris from grounds and parking lot, including shoulders and ramps, at least daily.
  • Clean picnic tables and pavilions each morning and as needed.
  • Edge curbs and walkways at least one time per week during the growing season.
  • Stock brochure racks as necessary at the beginning of each shift.
  • Report all incidents of vandalism, theft, accidents, etc., to the Supervisor, agency on-call person, and proper law enforcement authorities immediately.
  • Follow all safety/health/sanitation procedures and immediately report unsafe practices.
  • Remain visible after dark to curb vandalism, theft, and accidents (third shift attendants).
  • Take measures to curb vandalism, theft, and accidents regardless of shift.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Rest Area Supervisor.
