About The Position

The Center for Disability Services is seeking Weekend Resident Counselors to support their Residential Programs. This role involves assisting, providing, and promoting independence with the daily treatment, care, and services for individuals in Residential Services. Weekend Resident Counselors are integral members of the individuals’ planning, implementation, and Interdisciplinary teams. They are responsible for implementing individualized residential habilitation services as outlined in the Individualized Plan of Services (ISP and supporting plans), while continuously promoting independence, community inclusion, individualization, and productivity. The role emphasizes respecting individual personal choice, lifestyle, and dignity to take informed risks. Weekend Resident Counselors must be flexible to work at any residential location as program and staffing needs change. Requirements

  • Minimum of 12 hours, Maximum of 25 hours per week.
  • Must have specialized training - First Aid, CPR, SCIP-R, OPWDD Medication Administration Certification, and CFDS Authorized Driver within the first six months of employment.
  • Must complete additional program specific training requirements during first six months of employment.
  • Employee must maintain certifications continuously to remain in this position.
  • NYS Driver's License required.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of two (2) years experience of job related experience, specifically in working with individuals with developmental disabilities or working in nursing home or home care settings required.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting, providing, and promoting independence with the daily treatment, care, and services of the individuals receiving services and support in Residential Services.
  • Serving as members of the individuals’ planning, implementation, and Interdisciplinary teams.
  • Assisting in the implementation of individualized residential habilitation services, as outlined in the Individualized Plan of Services (ISP and supporting plans).
  • Continuously promoting independence, community inclusion, individualization, and productivity.
  • Respecting the individual’s personal choice, lifestyle, and their dignity to take informed risks.
  • Being flexible to work at any residential location as program and staffing needs change on a day-to-day basis.
