About The Position

Children’s Mercy is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse for their Outpatient Infusion Clinic, specifically for the Weekend Option Program. This role involves providing illness management and health promotion for patients and families, utilizing the nursing process to deliver safe, high-quality, comprehensive, and age-appropriate care. The nurse will also be responsible for patient and family education, advocating for their needs, and coordinating care with other personnel. The Weekend Option Program requires a one-year commitment to work at least 24 hours every weekend, with a bonus of 50% of the base rate for qualifying weekend hours. Transparency regarding employment conditions, such as seasonal influenza vaccination and other required immunizations (measles, mumps, rubella, chicken pox, tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis), is also highlighted, with provisions for medical and religious exemptions.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree ADN required.
  • Current employees hired before September 1, 2013 are grandfathered and permitted to continue in the direct care nursing role.
  • One of the following: Licensed RN - Kansas, Registered Nurse Multistate License Kansas required upon hire
  • One of the following: Licensed RN - MO, Registered Nurse Multistate License Missouri required upon hire
  • RN Compact license for all states besides KS and MO
  • Employees must obtain Licensed RN - KS or MO Compact within 90 days
  • Refer to Nursing and Advanced Practice Provider Licensure and Certification policy for required Life Support Certifications Required Upon Hire

Nice To Haves

  • Infusion and IV Therapy experience preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred for all nurses hired after September 1, 2013.
  • Nurses hired after this date without a BSN must complete their degree within 5 years of their hire date.
  • Infusion and IV Therapy experience preferred
  • Specialty Certification relevant to unit's patient population (determined by Nurse Manager/Director) Preferred Upon Hire
