About The Position

This role involves performing maintenance and repairs on machinery and equipment, following blueprints, manuals, and schematic drawings. The technician will visually inspect and test machinery using electrical and electronic test equipment, listen for unusual sounds to detect malfunctions, and discuss machine operation with colleagues. Responsibilities include dismantling machines, installing new parts, repairing hydraulic and electrical equipment, and maintaining various machinery such as cranes, forklifts, saws, and welders. The job also requires cleaning and lubricating machine parts, fabricating structures from steel, wood, and other materials, and ensuring all equipment and machinery comply with OSHA and ANSI standards. Outdoor maintenance tasks like snow removal, landscaping, and housekeeping are also part of the role. Accurate data entry of completed work is essential, and the ability to work when equipment fails, potentially being on call 24 hours a day, is required. The technician must know how to operate the equipment they are expected to work on, and perform other duties as specified by their supervisor.

Requirements

  • Ability to follow blueprints, manuals, and schematic drawings.
  • Proficiency in using electrical and electronic test equipment.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems.
  • Experience with maintaining and operating cranes, forklifts, order filling tables, saws, chain saws, gas and diesel equipment, torch tables, hand and powered tools, motors, racks, and welders.
  • Ability to clean and lubricate machinery.
  • Skills in fabricating steel, wood, and other materials.
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations and ANSI standards.
  • Ability to perform outdoor maintenance tasks.
  • Proficiency in entering work completed into a database.
  • Ability to work when equipment or machinery fail.
  • Willingness to be on call 24 hours a day.
  • Knowledge of how to operate equipment they are expected to work on.

Responsibilities

  • Follow blueprints, manuals, and schematic drawings while performing maintenance and repairs of the machinery and equipment.
  • Visually inspect and test machinery and equipment using electrical and electronic test equipment.
  • Listen for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discuss machine operation with co-workers.
  • Dismantle machines and equipment and install new or required parts according to specifications.
  • Repair and maintain all hydraulic and electrical equipment and machinery.
  • Inspect and operate equipment and machinery including, but not limited to: cranes, forklifts, order filling tables, saws, chain saws, gas and diesel equipment, torch tables, hand and powered tools, motors, racks, and welders.
  • Clean and lubricate machines and equipment parts using solvents, rags, brushes, and grease guns.
  • Fabricate steel, wood, and other materials to assist in the operation and safety of the plant.
  • Use hand and power tools to fabricate physical structures, benches, and partitions.
  • Ensure equipment and machinery are in proper working condition according to OSHA and ANSI standards.
  • Perform outdoor maintenance including snow removal, ground and landscape maintenance, housekeeping duties, and road grading.
  • Enter work completed into the database in a timely manner.
  • Be able to work when equipment or machinery fail.
  • Be on call 24 hours a day.
  • Operate equipment that they are expected to work on.
  • Perform other duties as specified by supervisor.
