About The Position
Assists the fabrication department by performing various duties related to the fabrication process. This includes assisting machine operators, handling materials, operating machinery for specific processes like tumbling and deburring, applying protective coatings, and performing basic assembly tasks. The role also involves maintaining a clean work area and ensuring proper identification of materials.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- One to three months related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and memos, as well as operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information one-on-one to other employees of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear.
- Frequently required to reach with hands and arms.
- Occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 75 pounds and may occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Responsibilities
- Assists other machine operators with fabrication duties.
- Unloads materials, parts, or products onto or from lasers, pallets, skids, conveyors, or trucks and identifies each load with the job number.
- Loads fabricated parts into tumbler and removes them after a designated time period.
- Applies rust preventative to fabricated parts when necessary.
- Removes burrs or excess metal from fabricated parts.
- Plans assembly procedures following specifications.
- Drills, taps, or reams holes.
- Aligns components, and bolts, screws, or rivets them together.
- Tests or assists in testing operation of completed product.
- Cleans and organizes work area.
