About The Position

The Rest Area Attendant is responsible for performing all contract requirements within the state time frames and ensures that the rest areas meet or exceed the standards set forth by TDOT. This role involves maintaining cleanliness and safety of rest area facilities, including restrooms, grounds, and common areas, while adhering to all company policies and contract obligations.

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Physical and mental alertness to perform the requirements of the contract and duties
  • Previous maintenance experience preferred, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Performing all contract requirements within state time frames.
  • Ensuring rest areas meet or exceed TDOT standards.
  • Completing necessary paperwork accurately and on time.
  • Complying with Easter Seals Policies and Procedures, Employee Handbook, TDOT quality standards, HIPAA, Title VI, and Confidentiality requirements.
  • Attending in-service training sessions, meetings, and out-of-town activities as required.
  • Promoting a positive work environment by treating staff and visitors with courtesy and respect.
  • Complying with all aspects of the contract with the TDOT.
  • Maintaining restrooms in a clean and sanitary condition, adding supplies as necessary and cleaning each area as needed during shift.
  • Maintaining the foyer and reception area in a clean, attractive, and sanitary state.
  • Keeping the storage area clean, neat, and secure.
  • Reporting any necessary repairs to the Rest Area Supervisor.
  • Sweeping or hosing down parking lot areas, sidewalks, and walkways at least once each shift.
  • Maintaining walkways as required to keep them free of snow and ice.
  • Maintaining grounds by raking leaves and mowing grass.
  • Shrubbery care including weeding of beds and flower beds, watering plants and shrubs, and mulching.
  • Collecting trash for receptacles and taking to the garbage bin as necessary.
  • Completing required Quality Control Check List and performing all required duties as stated within time frames listed on the checklist each shift.
  • Cleaning windows and light fixtures at least weekly or as necessary.
  • Cleaning floors, doors, and water fountains at least once each shift.
  • Cleaning door mats daily.
  • Removing all trash, paper, and other debris from grounds and parking lot up to the edge of the paved shoulders, including shoulders of the interstate, exit, and entrance ramps at least daily.
  • Cleaning picnic tables and pavilions each morning and as needed.
  • Edging curbs and walkways at least one time per week during the growing season.
  • Stocking brochure racks as necessary at the beginning of each shift.
  • Reporting all incidents of vandalism, theft, accidents, etc. to the Supervisor, agency on-call person, and the proper law enforcement authorities immediately.
  • Following all safety/health/sanitation procedures and immediately reporting unsafe practices.
  • Remaining as visible as possible after dark (third shift) to curb vandalism, theft, and accidents.
  • Taking measures to curb vandalism, theft, and accidents regardless of the shift worked.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the Rest Area Supervisor.
