The primary responsibility is to manage the digital platforms that communicate central campus initiatives and maintain the university's brand. The position requires a blend of technical expertise, content creation, and collaborative support to ensure a unified and effective online presence across various departments and programs. The lead developer will oversee the development and technical aspects of UHM's Tier 1 digital ecosystem, including the main campus webpage and key administrative sites. The role also involves strategic leadership for Tier 1 platforms, including drafting, editing, and curating digital content to translate complex institutional messages into engaging, accessible, and brand-aligned material. Additionally, the developer will provide high-level guidance to unit and college web leads on frameworks and technical standards, ensuring campus-wide consistency while enabling individual units to manage their own site maintenance. Continuous evaluation of emerging web technologies, industry standards (SEO, UX, WCAG), and government regulations is expected to recommend and implement improvements for the campus's digital presence. The position requires monitoring and analyzing website traffic, user behavior, and engagement metrics to inform content strategy, optimize user experience, and drive continuous improvement. The developer will lead the design and implementation of new websites and digital assets for strategic initiatives, academic programs, and special events. Project management skills are essential for developing and managing multiple concurrent digital content projects, prioritizing tasks, coordinating with stakeholders, and ensuring timely, high-quality outcomes. Ongoing training, consultation, and best-practice guidance will be provided to units and administrative teams to maintain a cohesive and high-standard digital presence across the Manoa campus. The role requires adherence to and implementation of directives and guidance from University of Hawaii System Information Technology Services regarding best practices, system reliability, security, and operational efficiency.
