About The Position

LaBella’s Data Intelligence Group is seeking a Web Developer to create, enhance, and support applications and related technology solutions for municipal, utility, environmental, infrastructure, and multidisciplinary projects. LaBella is an employee-owned, multidisciplinary firm that brings together engineers, architects, surveyors, environmental scientists, and technologists to serve public and private clients. The Developer reports to the GIS Discipline Lead and works closely with the Senior Developer, Principal GIS staff, project managers, engineers, planners, field staff, and other technical teams. The role supports new application development, modernization of existing systems, database-driven workflows, troubleshooting, testing, documentation, and ongoing application maintenance and support. Development work includes web-based and data-driven applications, GIS tools and applications, integrations, and database solutions, with cloud-based development and support where required. The position also provides project and client support, including understanding business needs, communicating technical progress and recommendations, assisting with estimates and implementation, and supporting long-term client programs. The Developer follows established development, source-control, testing, documentation, and quality-assurance practices, and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to create reusable, maintainable solutions. AI-assisted development tools may be used where appropriate; AI-generated content and code must be reviewed and validated. The stated salary range is $105,000 to $128,000 per year. The specific offer may depend on factors including relevant experience, education, and work location.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
At least 5 years of professional software, web application, or database development experience.
Demonstrated experience developing web applications using .NET Core, C#, Entity Framework, and JavaScript.
Professional experience with Microsoft SQL Server, including writing SQL queries and views and working with relational database structures.
Experience integrating web applications with relational databases, APIs, or other business systems.
Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern web application development concepts.
Ability to troubleshoot software and database issues, test solutions, and document technical work.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with an interest in building maintainable, user-focused solutions.
Ability to work collaboratively with senior developers, project managers, and multidisciplinary teams.
Excellent written and verbal communication, documentation, and time-management skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines in a consulting environment.
Ability to sit for extended periods and work at a computer.
Ability to communicate effectively in virtual and in-person meetings.

Nice To Haves

Experience developing GIS or location-based web applications using Esri technologies.
Experience with ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Pro, enterprise geodatabases, or the ArcGIS Maps SDK for JavaScript.
Experience with Python, REST APIs, source control, automated testing, deployment workflows, or application modernization.
Experience supporting utility, municipal, environmental, infrastructure, or asset-management clients.
Experience developing and managing cloud deployments such as Amazon or Azure.

Responsibilities

Develop, enhance, test, and maintain web-based and data-driven applications under the direction of the Senior Developer.
Develop custom GIS applications and tools using Esri technologies, including ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Pro, and the ArcGIS Maps SDK for JavaScript.
Develop and maintain web applications and integrations using .NET Core, C#, Entity Framework, JavaScript, and related technologies.
Translate defined business and technical requirements into reliable, maintainable application features and workflows.
Participate in code reviews, troubleshooting, testing, deployment, and maintenance of production applications.
Develop and maintain applications in cloud-based environments where required.
Develop and maintain application databases and data structures using Microsoft SQL Server.
Write and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and other database objects supporting web applications.
Integrate web applications with relational databases.
Support data migration, validation, troubleshooting, and modernization of legacy database-driven applications, including relational databases in cloud environments where needed.
Work with the Senior Developer, project managers, and project teams to understand business needs and implement practical technical solutions.
Communicate technical concepts, progress, issues, and recommendations to technical and non-technical team members.
Assist with technical scoping, level-of-effort estimates, documentation, testing plans, and implementation activities.
Provide ongoing application support, troubleshooting, bug fixes, upgrades, and enhancements for long-term client programs.
Document applications, databases, workflows, dependencies, and support procedures.
Follow established development standards, source-control practices, testing procedures, documentation requirements, and QA/QC processes.
Develop reusable components and solutions for use across projects and clients.
Collaborate with data analysts, developers, and multidisciplinary project teams to integrate business requirements.
Continue developing technical skills in web development, databases, and related technologies with guidance from senior staff.
Use AI-assisted development tools, including vibe coding where appropriate, to improve efficiency; review and validate AI-generated content and code.
Travel occasionally to client or project locations as needed.
