About The Position

The Web Developer will be a core member of Optimizely’s digital experience team, reporting to the Sr. Manager, Web Development. Working at the intersection of front-end development, content, and marketing, the role helps build and maintain Optimizely’s web presence using its SaaS content management platform.

The developer translates design files into polished, high-performing web experiences, builds reusable UI components, creates pixel-accurate pages from Figma, and connects front-end experiences to content through a headless CMS. The role works closely with designers, content creators, and senior engineers to make the website easier to grow.

Requirements

• Strong JavaScript and React fundamentals, with a solid grasp of component-based UI development.
• Working knowledge of HTML and CSS, including a utility-first framework such as Tailwind CSS.
• Comfort translating Figma design system files into production-ready web pages.
• Familiarity with Next.js or a similar server-rendered React framework.
• Experience using Git and standard version control workflows.
• Attention to consistent styling, code quality, and structured conventions.
• Collaborative working style and ability to bridge communication between content or marketing teams and engineering.
• Excellent communication skills and comfort working in a deadline-driven environment.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks with different timelines.
• Strong understanding of the software development cycle and object-oriented analysis, design, and development.
• Strong understanding of design patterns such as MVC and MVVM.
• High level of comfort using Git alongside other developers, including deployments and code reviews.
• Understanding of issues involved in reliably deploying optimized websites from Git code repositories.
• Understanding of developing for a content management system.
• Experience with Azure App Services, Functions, and SQL Databases.
• Experience with Optimizely (formerly Episerver).
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with headless CMS platforms such as Optimizely, Contentful, or Sanity.
• Working knowledge of GraphQL basics.
• Experience with web accessibility standards (WCAG).
• Understanding of automated unit and end-to-end testing.
• Exposure to component documentation tools such as Storybook.
• A web development portfolio or past work examples showcasing coding capabilities.

Responsibilities
