About The Position

The Web Developer IV writes and maintains front-end and/or back-end code for complex, enterprise-level University websites and web applications. The role applies expert-level knowledge of web standards and frameworks to build dynamic sites and applications that meet University and governmental policies, and provides guidance, leadership, and training to other developers. The position works under minimal supervision. Reporting to the Associate Director of University Web Strategy, this developer works with developers, strategists, designers, and campus partners as the platform and deployment lead for the Division of Strategic Communications. The role authors and maintains continuous integration and deployment infrastructure—including GitHub Actions workflows, self-hosted runners, and build tooling—for WordPress, React, Next.js, and static-site applications deployed to on-premises and managed hosting targets. It also develops and maintains production PHP and JavaScript, including custom WordPress plugins, digital-system-of-design components, theme templates, and internal web applications. The position maintains the division’s WordPress portfolio across on-premises multisite and managed single-site environments and administers hosting accounts and environments. It monitors site performance, uptime, and load, and diagnoses issues spanning application code, hosting platforms, and network layers. The role owns deployment and hosting operations, including patch and update schedules, rollback and hotfix responses, pipeline and build configuration, release readiness, and approval of administrative-access requests. The position attends a monthly in-person divisional staff meeting. Remote work is available subject to University policy.
