About The Position

The Web Developer III is responsible for the design, development, support, and optimization of the University’s enterprise web and digital experience platforms, with a primary focus on Drupal and related web technologies supporting the University’s public-facing web ecosystem. This role develops and maintains custom web applications, API integrations, metadata synchronization services, and digital marketing solutions while supporting critical web infrastructure including hosting platforms such as Pantheon, CDN and edge caching technologies including Fastly and Cloudflare, and Git-based version control and deployment workflows. Responsibilities include support for enterprise integrations and services such as ContentSync, Mulesoft, analytics and SEO platforms, and related web operations technologies. The position serves as a senior technical contributor responsible for delivering stable, secure, accessible, scalable, and brand-compliant solutions across multiple environments. The role also contributes to DevOps practices, environment management, technical documentation, performance optimization, and emerging web delivery approaches such as static site generation and digital archiving. The Web Developer III provides technical leadership on major initiatives, collaborates with stakeholders across Information Technology and University Relations, mentors junior developers, and helps advance the University’s long-term digital experience strategy and web platform modernization efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of web support/development experience.
  • Hands-on experience in content, support and administration of web-based applications, such as portals and web content management. Proficiency with web editors, HTML, CSS, JavaScript. Experience working with file formats/prep for web-based images, video, and audio. Familiarity with web standards
  • Ability to provide technical service and support to diverse campus clients including application administration, documentation, reporting, and day-to-day operations including incident triage. Requires excellent trouble-shooting skills
  • Strong understating of intranet and mobile development and design
  • Strong understanding of web search appliances and collaboration tools
  • Strong understanding of ITIL principles and framework
  • Strong understanding of Integration platforms
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to convey technical, usability, and UI concepts to a non-technical partner.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Experience with an enterprise ticketing system, web analytics, server side scripting, SQL, and JavaScript libraries.
  • Experience with CMS applications, portals, version control, mobile web/application development, integration tool such as Mulesoft a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide enterprise support, maintenance, enhancement, and custom development for the University’s Content Management System and related digital experience platforms, delivering stable, secure, accessible, and brand-compliant solutions in alignment with University standards and priorities.
  • Provide advanced tier-2 support for web applications, hosting infrastructure, and digital experience services supporting the University’s marketing and communications ecosystem. Research complex transactional and system issues, identify root causes, coordinate resolution efforts, and implement long-term improvements to system stability, performance, and usability.
  • Design, develop, maintain, and support integrations between web platforms and enterprise systems, including API-based integrations, canonical data services, metadata synchronization platforms, and marketing technologies such as ContentSync, Mulesoft, and related enterprise integration services.
  • Manage and support the software development lifecycle (SDLC) for web solutions and supporting infrastructure, including version control workflows, deployment coordination, environment management, hosting platforms, CDN and edge caching technologies, testing procedures, release management, and technical documentation.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and project coordination for major web and digital experience initiatives, including collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders, communicating project status and technical recommendations, participating in architecture and design discussions, mentoring junior developers, and contributing to peer review processes and development standards.
  • Develop and maintain detailed technical, operational, and process documentation, including system architecture, configuration standards, metadata structures, deployment procedures, integration specifications, and in-code documentation to support long-term maintainability and operational continuity.
