About The Position

As the Web/Database Developer, you will be responsible for supporting the United States Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine (USAFSAM) Consult Database in the design, build, testing, and deploying a web-based consultation application. This database will be built and hosted within the Human Performance Wing Support System (HPWS). HPWS is a web application using a ColdFusion 2018 application server and Oracle 12c for backend relational database services. HPWS provides mission critical support to the 711th Human Performance Wing and serves over 2.5 million views yearly to Air Force and other DoD military users worldwide.

Requirements

  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Must be able to pass a security background investigation.
  • B.S. in Computer Science, or related, and 4 years relevant work experience OR Any Bachelor's Degree and 6 years relevant work experience OR Any post-secondary education and 8 years relevant work experience.
  • Senior-level programming experience developing data-driven web applications using Adobe ColdFusion and similar web application platform.
  • Senior-level programming experience using Oracle PL/SQL or similar relational database.
  • Senior-level programming experience using XML, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery.
  • Experience processing complex data sets within an Oracle, or similar, relational database.
  • Experience reading, understanding, designing, writing, and modifying complex SQL queries, stored procedures and functions.
  • Experience designing, building, and modifying relational database objects, including tables, views, sequences, triggers, procedures, and functions.
  • Experience working throughout the entire software development lifecycle; from collecting and documenting requirements, to designing, building, testing, and deploying a complete web application.
  • Demonstrated experience using Oracle PL/SQL or similar relational database, XML, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery.

Nice To Haves

  • New Web Developers to HPWS will be required to complete a two-to-three-week sandbox training period in order to introduce them to the HPWS web application framework. This sandbox training period will include a short project where you will be required to demonstrate your skills and technical ability within the platform.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, test, and deploy a web-based consultation application.
  • Support the USAFSAM Consult Database.
  • Work within the Human Performance Wing Support System (HPWS), which uses a ColdFusion 2018 application server and Oracle 12c.
  • Process complex data sets within an Oracle, or similar, relational database.
  • Read, understand, design, write, and modify complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and functions.
  • Design, build, and modify relational database objects, including tables, views, sequences, triggers, procedures, and functions.
  • Work throughout the entire software development lifecycle; from collecting and documenting requirements, to designing, building, testing, and deploying a complete web application.
  • Demonstrate experience using Oracle PL/SQL or similar relational database, XML, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery.
  • Complete a two-to-three-week sandbox training period to introduce new developers to the HPWS web application framework, including a short project to demonstrate skills.
  • Interact with government customers to understand technical requirements for computer programming projects.
  • Participate in the creation of technical documentation.
  • Program new capabilities based upon information contained within design specifications provided by the government.
  • Manage data that may be categorized as Controlled Unclassified Information, sensitive, or Personally Identifiable Information, and take government-furnished training on how to correctly handle these types of records.
  • Produce training content for web application screens and provide training if needed.
  • Participate in regularly scheduled and ad hoc project meetings (in person, over the telephone, or using AF-approved virtual meeting software like Microsoft Teams).
  • Communicate project status weekly to primary stakeholders and project management personnel in person, via email, and through government-proscribed tools and documentation.
  • Complete programming projects that comply with existing coding standards, design styles, and project management methodologies for all projects within the HPWS System.
  • Support 508 Accessibility standards (W3C WCAG 2.0) in the design, production, and maintenance of all user interfaces.
  • Support the Risk Management Framework (RMF) Certification & Accreditation process on behalf of department/ OMCI for the HPWS application.
