The Web Content Manager overseas, plans, creates, tracks and publishes all content on our website. This role will be the in-house expert on our website, which is housed on WordPress, providing advice on how to achieve the goals of various teams. The Web Content Manager will help to create a plan for website content, including adding new content and refreshing old content, to ensure the website material stays consistent and avoids sprawl. They will also track performance to make data driven recommendations and be the resident SEO/GEO expert to optimize content. This role will be a member of the Communications Team, which collaborates with teams across the organization to tell Plan’s story while supporting fundraising and organizational priorities. Note: A new, modern website is currently being built and is scheduled to launch in mid-May of 2026. This role will play an integral part in setting expectations and processes for the new site.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of WordPress and experience organizing, posting and archiving web content, using the taxonomy and content classifications.
  • An understanding of CRM integrations, especially Salesforce.
  • Basic understanding of HTML.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate and provide guidance across teams and with outside agencies and consultants to achieve best results.
  • Knowledge of SEO and A/GEO best practices, experience with keyword research and competitive analysis.
  • Strong ability to prioritize requests and manage projects through their lifecycle.
  • Genuine interest in the international development and humanitarian assistance sector.
  • Bachelor’s degree, or related work experience, and 5-8 years of professional experience in website management or related work.

  • Background in nonprofits preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain a master calendar for web content to ensure the needs of the organization are met while also maintaining consistent standards and information architecture.
  • Provide guidance and updates the website in response to web service requests, internal editorial needs and fundraising calendars. This includes, but is not limited to creating new pages, blogs, forms and products. In addition, maintains a calendar and process for all reoccurring web updates.
  • Develops and owns the website governance model, ensuring the structure is maintained over time and prevents degradation and site sprawl.
  • Upholds and maintains existing brand, content standards and guidelines across all of the organization’s web properties.
  • Be the internal expert on SEO and A/GEO, providing both education and guidance to technical and content producing teams to achieve the best outcomes. This involves staying current on trends, brainstorming ways to incorporate those trends, and actively working to improve Plan’s search rankings.
  • Create and execute the web performance strategy, including the determination of KPIs in accordance with the organizational goals, setting up dashboards, providing reporting, suggesting and executing testing, and being the web performance subject matter expert for internal staff. This includes regularly reviewing the website and internal analytics to identify and address functionality, navigation, design and content for improvement, updating and archiving while upholding evolving web standards and best practices. This role will work closely with our website vendor for yearly audits.
  • Work closely with Plan’s technology team, technology consultants and website development partner to ensure the best user experience, design, flow and site navigation. In addition, be able to work collaboratively with fundraising and communications agencies to quality and consistent content, as well as the execution of campaigns. Specifically, this role will work hand-in-hand with the digital fundraising manager to brainstorm solutions, implement strategies and analysis results.
