About The Position

The Digital Services team is the heartbeat of the City of Edmonton’s digital presence, managing critical systems like the OneCity intranet and the public-facing Edmonton.ca website. As a Web Content Coordinator, you will play a vital role in shaping how the City connects with the community by overseeing content creation and quality assurance. Reporting to the Team Lead of Web Authoring and Quality Assurance, you will ensure our digital products are functional, accessible, and user-friendly. You will act as a bridge between technical requirements and business needs, transforming complex information into seamless digital experiences. Requirements

  • Diploma from a recognized post secondary institution in business, web design and development, communications, or a related discipline
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in website design with proven knowledge in digital content management or journalism, applied communications, or related experience
  • Extensive knowledge of the principles and practices of web design and development, web standards, usability and user experience standards, including WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines)
  • Considerable knowledge of web authoring and web publishing software, particularly content management system

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in web content management, web content writing and editing
  • Experience in search engine optimization and analytics
  • Knowledge of web usability accessibility standards and best practices
  • Experience using Drupal for web content management and site administration
  • Knowledge of Google Workspace products such as Docs, Sheets, Slides, Adobe Acrobat and Photoshop (photo editing), and HTML

Responsibilities

  • Review work requests regularly to confirm alignment with City standards, ensuring clarity, organization, proper formatting and adherence to visual identity standards
  • Build and update web pages using the City's Content Management System (CMS), ensuring they are functional, user-friendly and accessible
  • Support website quality assurance and content workflow processes by ensuring the accuracy, consistency and accessibility of web content, and by identifying and resolving content issues
  • Ensure web content adheres to established City standards, style guides, and accessibility requirements
  • Consult with clients and communications to establish web page goals, create calls to action and ensure logical content flow
  • Assist in reviews of website content, including content inventories and audits, and consults with Digital Strategists to provide recommendations
  • Assist in building and supporting digital tools, such as maps, online forms and other tools
  • Assist in preparing analytics dashboards or reports
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
