Amentum is seeking a Weather Technician/Observer for the Space Force Range Contract. This role involves reporting to the Weather Systems Manager and supporting the completion of upper air observations using computer data and platforms. The assignment requires dedicated attention for approximately 3 hours per observation, from preflight to final data transmission. The observer will operate the VSFB Representative Weather Observatory (RWO) during airfield operating hours (Monday-Friday, 0730-1700 local time), with potential for after-hours or weekend support when the airfield is open. Responsibilities include performing upper air and surface observations consistent with specified Air Force Manuals and directives, conducting daily upper air balloon observations at 0000 and 1200 UTC, and performing weather observations at VSFB Weather Stations 24/7 in support of the National Airborne Operations Center (NAOC). The role also supports launch operations through nominal launch, scrub, and until mission requirements are completed. Ground operations safety requirements include a maximum 12-hour shift with at least 8 hours of rest, a maximum of 60 hours per week, and a maximum of 14 consecutive calendar days.
