About The Position

KSNV in Las Vegas is hiring a Weather Forecaster/Reporter. Meteorologists are encouraged to apply, but meteorology credentials are not required. The role includes weather coverage on Saturdays and Sundays, general assignment reporting on three weekdays, and filling in for other station meteorologists on other shifts. A strong social media presence is a major plus. The successful candidate will work closely with producers and managers to communicate the day’s weather story and track upcoming weather systems.

Requirements

At least two years as a reporter or weather caster in a television news environment, or equivalent.
A proven track record of creating compelling, engaging stories across multiple platforms.
Ability to perform well under pressure, manage breaking news, and meet strict deadlines.
Ability to identify problems and provide solutions.
Strong commitment to journalistic standards and ethics.
Extraordinary people skills, with an emphasis on coaching and motivating.
Strong understanding of compelling digital content.
Strong writing skills and a proven track record of getting results on initiatives.

Nice To Haves

Meteorology background or credentials.
A strong social media presence.

Responsibilities

Create daily weathercasts focused on the day’s weather story and the next weather maker.
Post social weather content in accordance with the digital plan.
Create daily weather visuals for all platforms.
Cultivate story ideas that fit the station’s bucket structure during reporter days.
Participate in special or extended weather and news coverage.
Communicate weather events and the daily weather story during content meetings.
Report on general assignment stories on three weekdays.
Fill in for other station meteorologists on other shifts.
