About The Position

Performs technician duties incident to inspection, maintenance, and repair of the Marine Corps Main Battle Tank (MBT), Tank Retriever (M88A1) and armored vehicle launched bridge (AVLB) or other weaponry vehicles. Provides technical assistance, guidance, or training to lower level technicians and assists higher level technicians. Performs other tasks as reasonably assigned.

Requirements

High school graduate or equivalent.
Five years of directly related work experience.
Complete the M1A1 Tank System Mechanic Course or equivalent.
Complete the MBT Intermediate Course or equivalent.
Working knowledge of how heavy duty machinery, engines, hydraulic systems, transmissions and other parts and systems work.
Ability to detect faulty items, determine cause of malfunction, and determine best repair methods.
Ability to assemble, disassemble, repair, or modify components and systems.
Ability to read and interpret parts lists, manufacturers’ repair manuals, diagrams, and electrical schematics.
Thorough understanding of the principles of operation and required repairs of weapon system components to include, but not limited to AAV, LAV and Tank weapons, turrets, up-gunned weapons stations, and howitzers.
Ability to utilize Technical Manuals, Lubrication Orders/Instructions, Modification Instructions, and Modification Work Orders to repair weapon systems.
Working knowledge of requisitioning requirements utilizing appropriate Stock List, Parts Manuals, etc.
Thorough working knowledge in the proper utilization of test equipment, diagnostic equipment, and special tools to cause repairs.
Possess a valid State Motor Vehicle Operator License and able to obtain and maintain a Tactical Operator License as necessary.
Ability to comply with all established methods, safety standards, quality standards, and time schedules applicable to this position.
U.S. Citizen.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance and Base Access.
