The Wealth Management Client Associate – Advisor Development Program (WMCA - ADP) is an entry role in Merrill’s Advisor Development Program, a progression designed to lead to becoming a Merrill Financial Advisor. In the initial role, the associate provides client service support to multiple Financial Advisors (FAs), serves as a frequent point of contact for clients’ service needs, and acts as a resource for FAs. The position supports enterprise strategic objectives, operational excellence, and client advocacy, with solutions tailored to the needs of each FA’s business. The journey begins with dedicated study time to obtain the Securities Industry Essentials (SIE), Series 7, and Series 66 licenses. These licenses must be obtained within 120 days; previously held Series 63 and Series 65 licenses are accepted in place of Series 66. After licensing, the associate receives foundational role training. Upon achieving role proficiency and completing experiential activities that demonstrate advisor potential, the associate progresses to Financial Advisor trainee, receives dedicated training, and begins building a book of business. After completing trainee performance requirements, the ultimate destination is becoming a Merrill Financial Advisor. Across the program’s progressive roles, participants develop a book of business, source and assess prospective clients, identify needs, make referrals, recommend suitable investment products and services, and deliver customized solutions. They balance investment growth, referrals, follow-up, prospecting, compliance, and professional development; manage the resources needed to run a practice; collaborate with specialists; and complete required training, assessments, performance goals, and continuing education. Bank of America provides training, onboarding, coaching, tools, and resources throughout the career journey. In the client associate role, the associate partners with Financial Advisors, Client Relationship Managers, and Market Supervision Managers on client servicing, risk, investments, and banking products, escalating issues as appropriate. The associate educates clients about the bank’s service and banking offerings, handles client materials and requests accurately and promptly, supports policy and procedure compliance, helps protect clients and manage risk, and supports business growth and client relationship development.
