About The Position

The Director provides overall leadership to the Wisconsin Child Welfare Partnership for Professional Development at UWM (WCWPDS-UWM). WCWPDS-UWM is a partnership between the Helen Bader School of Social Welfare at UW Milwaukee, UW Madison, and the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families. WCWPDS-UWM provides innovative research-based training, technical assistance, and diverse learning opportunities for child welfare, home visiting, and early childhood professionals and paraprofessionals as well as foster and adoptive families across Wisconsin. The Director oversees strategic and substantive program planning, contracting, and fiscal management of WCWPDS-UWM and actively pursues additional funding that aligns with WCWPDS strategic plans.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree and at least three years of leadership experience OR Bachelor’s degree and at least five years of leadership experience
  • Minimum of three years of experience with instructional design or adult education
  • Experience supervising professional staff
  • Experience with developing grants, budget planning, and financial reporting

Responsibilities

  • Organizational Planning, Operations, and Fiscal Oversight: Direct planning and operations for all contracted professional services serving approximately 10,000 end-users annually. Lead annual and multiyear strategic planning processes. Develop an annual budget (approximately $4 million) aligned with strategic priorities. Identify and secure the financial and technical resources needed to support plans and initiatives. Develop and oversee fiscal processes and reporting in compliance with UWM policies and contractual requirements.
  • Staff Development: Lead a 25-person team, including six direct reports. Develop and lead the management team.
  • Program Innovation and Development: Lead ongoing growth and continuous improvement of professional development offerings. Secure new partnerships and programs through grants and other funding mechanisms. Oversee integration of state-of-the-art theory and practice into program offerings. Advise agency leadership on professional development strategies. Align professional development activities with funders’ organizational goals.
  • Community and Partner Collaboration: Develop and manage ongoing collaborations with local, statewide, and national agencies and organizations. Collaborate with academic partners in the Helen Bader School of Social Welfare and the Institute for Child and Family Well-Being within the College of Community Engagement & Professions.
  • Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees.
  • Directs the development of long range and short term strategic plans and initiatives to further the growth of the outreach program.
  • Serves as liaison to internal and external stakeholder groups providing organizational information and representing interest of the unit.
  • Directs the organizational strategic goals of the programs and unit.
  • Directs unit personnel and budgeted activities.
  • Develops and monitors the budget.
