Background/Organizational Context The Governance Global Department, within the World Bank Group's Prosperity Vice-Presidency (Prosperity VPU), is responsible for issues related to public financial and investment management, procurement, standards and codes around transparent financial management in public and private sectors, corporate governance, state-owned enterprises, corporate financial reporting, fiduciary assurance, and governance in sectors. The Department also leads the global engagement program on addressing cross-cutting challenges such as climate change, gender equality, and digitalization for which fiscal policies and PFM systems are an important component of the appropriate policy response. The Public Expenditure and Financial Accountability (PEFA) Program is housed within the WKPGF unit within the Global Governance Department. PEFA is a multi-donor trust fund program that provides a globally recognized diagnostic framework for assessing and monitoring Public Financial Management (PFM) systems, supporting client countries in strengthening PFM performance and using evidence-based analysis to inform reform planning, implementation, and monitoring. PEFA provides grants for technical assistance, analytical work, and knowledge products across three work stream areas: • Work Stream 1 – Strengthening and Maintenance of the PEFA Assessment Tool and Supplementary Frameworks: Maintenance of the PEFA framework for national and subnational governments, supplementary modules including PEFA Gender and PEFA Climate and quality assurance of PEFA assessments. • Work Stream 2 – Learning and Outreach on PEFA Products and Their Impact: Development and delivery of learning materials and training, deepening country ownership through self-assessments, and outreach to legislatures, Supreme Audit Institutions, and civil society organizations. • Work Stream 3 – Knowledge Sharing and Communications on PEFA and PFM: Enrichment of the PEFA Knowledge Hub, the PEFA global data tracker, targeted research, and improved accessibility of the PEFA database. To support the operational needs of the PEFA Program, the Fiduciary Systems (Public Financial Management) Global Unit seeks an intern to provide support on communication, knowledge and data management.
