About The Position

Under general supervision, the Wax Repairer inspects wax patterns for conformance to specifications using established methods, guidelines, and procedures. The role is in the Production department in Groton, Connecticut, and reports to the Manufacturing Manager. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., with training on first shift. This is a non-exempt, hourly position.

The Wax Repairer checks wax patterns and related materials for quality, performs dimensional checks using precision measuring instruments, and conducts periodic inspections at wax injection presses during production. The role also involves reporting defects and unusual conditions, maintaining a safe and organized work area, and cross-training or assisting other departments as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or technical school completion.
• 1–3 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to use gauges, fixtures, hand tools, and precision measuring devices.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and work instructions.
• Strong basic shop math skills.

Responsibilities

• Visually inspect wax patterns for surface finish, smoothness, feature blending, flash, non-fills, air bubbles, core pulls, holes, and cracks using inspection procedures, specifications, photographs, and instructions.
• Check ceramics and solubles for quality standards.
• Perform dimensional checks using precision measuring instruments, including micrometers, vernier calipers, and scales.
• Perform periodic wax checks directly at wax injection presses during the waxing operation.
• Detect and promptly report defective materials, equipment malfunctions, and unusual conditions to appropriate supervision.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area and equipment.
• Cross-train and assist in other departments as needed.
• Perform additional duties and tasks of equal or lesser complexity as assigned.
• Meet targeted output expectations and maintain high efficiency and quality standards.
