Join HII as we keep the world's most powerful Navy afloat! The Fleet Sustainment team is looking for a Waterfront Manager. This position oversees daily operations for complex naval projects, managing schedules, budgets, and project coordination across teams and stakeholders. Someone in this role will monitor progress, resolves issues to meet productivity, quality, and customer goals, and provides oversight of production activities on assigned vessels. The role also supports shipbuilding, overhaul, and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) efforts through direct coordination with contractors, customers, and project staff. This role is contingent upon contract award.

Requirements

  • Ten (10) years of experience in management of complex projects involving USG ships, submarines, or combat systems.
  • Experience in naval shipbuilding and overhaul in a public or private shipyard environment, including experience managing a large and diverse group of individuals ranging from professional to industrial worker.
  • Experience in management of schedules for large and complex projects.
  • Foreign Military Sales (FMS) experience is required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance; must be a U.S. citizen eligible for such clearance.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally, including extended stays in support of overseas customer engagements.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain base access and CAC card.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or business-related field.
  • Experience supporting multi-site or complex naval programs, including shipbuilding/overhaul environments.
  • Experience supporting international customer engagements involving foreign government information and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) handling requirements.
  • A current or active security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees and manages the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management.
  • Reviews status of projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports.
  • Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives.
  • Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and clients.
  • Interact directly with contractor(s), customer, and staff as necessary to ensure timely and cost-effective accomplishment of project and established goals.
  • Provide oversight of all production personnel on an assigned vessel.
  • Serve as advisor to lower-level managers and exempt employees; help meet established schedules or resolve technical or operational problems.
