About The Position

This position is accountable for specialized maintenance and major repair in all phases of marine systems. It is responsible for the day-to-day marine motor and vessel up-keep and repair, performing duties in a full-service repair facility and off site, when needed. Responsibilities include removing and installing new and replacement outboard motors, performing overhaul of outboard power heads and gear cases, diagnosing, repairing and/or installing all marine equipment, mechanical and electronic fuel injection systems. The position may also perform structural and cosmetic repairs to fiberglass hulls using fiberglass gelcoats and resin, and may remove and re-fabricate failed structural components in hulls, decks, and superstructures. It may make recommendations for removal of marine equipment from service and replacement with new units, and is responsible for maintaining maintenance records and assisting with the development of maintenance programs. This position will be required to work if there is an emergency call-out.

Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of marine mechanical, structural, electrical systems as well as electronics and emergency equipment.
  • Background in outboard and outboard diagnostics and experience in installation and repair of marine related equipment.
  • High school diploma or the equivalent.
  • Marine motor training.
  • Must have or be willing to obtain a certificate of certification from Mercury Marine Training facility.
  • Valid Virginia Driver’s License with that reflects a good driving record.
