About The Position

Assists in repair, installation, and preventive maintenance of heavy industrial equipment such as large pumps, valves, and compressors.

Requirements

  • Completion of a high school diploma or the equivalent with an additional one year experience in maintenance and/or repair of heavy stationary equipment; or any combination of relevant education and experience which provides the following:
  • Valid Current Driver's License
  • Physical Exam Required
  • Requires employee to be clean-shaven
  • Knowledge of principles and methods of mechanical repair.
  • Ability to use a variety of power, pneumatic, and hand tools.
  • Ability to properly use safety equipment such as gas detectors and breathing apparatus.
  • Ability to drive a forklift.
  • Ability to handle tools, repair parts, etc.
  • Ability to perform hard physical labor around sewage.

Responsibilities

  • Disassemble, clean, replace parts, and assemble heavy industrial equipment typically found in waterworks systems including pumps, valves, motors, and compressors.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and inspect equipment for proper operation or signs of malfunction.
  • Use electronic test equipment to collect machine data such as vibration and shaft alignment.
  • Obtain parts and supplies as necessary to complete repairs.
  • Assist mechanic in installation of new equipment or repair of existing equipment.
  • Assist in documentation of work orders and contacting vendors.
  • Check pumps periodically for leaks.
  • Perform related duties as directed.
