About The Position

The Wastewater Technician is responsible for performing technical work at the F. Wayne Hill Water Resources Center. The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 4:00pm, and may require overtime and weekend work on occasion. Essential Duties include Ostara – Nutrient Recovery Building FOG receiving and sampling, Gas to Energy Generator Operations, and New Bio-Dryer Operations (coming online in 2028). This job is a safety sensitive position that will require a pre-employment drug test and subsequent random drug and alcohol testing. This job may require on-call rotation and emergency after hours, weekends, and/or holidays.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Must obtain certification as Water/WW Operator within one year (Level I).
  • Three (3) months water plant experience (Level II).
  • Georgia Class III certification/license in water (Level II, III).
  • Two years of water treatment or wastewater experience or, BS Degree in a related field or a current Class I certificate in another category and one year of water treatment or wastewater experience or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job (Level III).
  • Three years of water experience or a BS Degree in a related field or a current Class I certificate in another category and two years of water experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job (Level IV).
  • Georgia Class I certification/license in water (mandatory for promotion to Water Shift Supervisor classification) (Level IV).

Responsibilities

  • Performing technical work at the F. Wayne Hill Water Resources Center.
  • FOG receiving and sampling.
  • Gas to Energy Generator Operations.
  • New Bio-Dryer Operations (coming online in 2028).
  • Assisting other water staff with various operator duties (Level I).
  • Performing technical, independent work in the area of water treatment (Level II).
  • Serving as lead to lower-level classes (Level II).
  • Performing highly technical work in the area of water treatment (Level III).
  • Working independently and serving as lead to lower-level staff (Level III).
  • Serving as a lead worker in the water treatment plant (Level IV).
  • Assigning and monitoring work (Level IV).
  • Providing training as needed (Level IV).
