About The Position

Apex Companies is a fast-growing engineering and environmental consulting firm seeking motivated individuals to join their team. This specific role focuses on managing Civil Engineering design projects related to Water or Wastewater Infrastructure. The selected candidate will provide technical leadership for projects such as treatment plants, pump/booster stations, and water distribution systems. While the positions can be fully remote, Project Managers must be willing to travel to New England at least once a month for internal meetings and client/site visits. The Northeast Division offers a collaborative environment with diverse projects and opportunities for career development.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical or related Engineering discipline.
8+ years of related water or wastewater design experience, including project management experience.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with clients, staff, subconsultants and contractors through effective leadership.
Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
Strong understanding of state and federal regulatory framework and experience interacting with regulators in the local and technical areas where Apex does work.
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and a strong desire to manage and mentor junior staff.
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record is required.

Nice To Haves

Registered Professional Engineer or other Professional Registrations as appropriate for their primary field of expertise in State(s) where Apex does work or ability to obtain same by reciprocity is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Manages project implementation with assigned project team and follows all company policies and operating procedures.
Keeps the client informed of the on-going status of a project and providing adequate management, advice, and support to the members of the project team.
Initiates projects by developing proposals/scopes of work and project budgets for approval by the Principal.
Completes project initiation documents that includes detailed scope/outline, budget, and schedule for completion.
Supervises and directs individuals or teams of technical staff on projects.
Assists in the training and technical development of staff by holding training seminars, providing technical guidance during project execution, and bringing new technical developments in-house.
Consults with other technical staff and Project Managers on technical challenges in the drinking water discipline.
Provides independent technical reviews on projects for other water discipline leaders.
Oversees the technical accuracy of project through regular communications with project staff, review of plans, specifications, reports, and calculations to ensure compliance with the firm's standards.
Tracks all projects costs, including labor and expenses, versus the project.
Ensures that invoices are issued to the client in a timely manner in accordance with company policy.
Proposal preparation, participating in project interviews, attending public meetings, developing fee proposals, preparing contracts and presenting information to new and future potential clients.
